- ACTING YOUR AGE: If you look much younger than you are, you should play this up.  Do fun things like going dancing, or something adventurous. Similarly, if you don’t want to those things, don’t – but make sure you do something interesting.  Don’t just take your new date to your local pub for beers with your mates.

- TELL THE TRUTH: Hiding your age is a sure fire way to ge tthe girl running when she finds out.  I know many older men who open their relationships just by openly telling the girl how old they are.  Its useful to make a small joke out of it such as:  You can come on a date with me if you think you can keep up with me, after all, I’m 60 years old…etcetc. If you pretend like you’re 40 when you’re 60, the girl will not stay around long when she finds out the truth.  If its just a fling that you’re after, then there is nothing to worry about.

- WATCH WHAT YOU SAY: Sometimes, if you’ve had a good, long life, you forget where you are.  If you are trying to date younger women, then you need to remember that its probably not a good idea to continue talking about your grandchildren.  Or talking about the time you went to the first elvis concert.  Phrases like this put your age in the forefront, and may intimidate younger girls when they realise that you were making love when they weren’t even born!

- DON’T BE DIRTY: You should always be a gentleman.  Younger women will be attracted to you because you are who you are, and not because you are trying to be someone that you aren’t. Therefore, don’t try to get them into bed the first time you meet them.  You do not want to be portrayed as a dirty old man.

Depending on how old or young the person is, love will triumph.  Don’t let age get in the way of what could be a beautiful relationship. The thing about these kinds of thing is that they are all very specific.  You can apply these principles above to every situation of an older man and a younger woman, but its not all you need.  Every relationship has slightly different nuances, and this will be important when it comes to being successful.  So all you older men, get out there – there are plenty of younger women looking to meet some mature, established gentlemen.

Rule number 1: Only use online dating sites that are reputable. Ollie S from Dating Dragons has written a review of 3 of the best dating sites for 2010. These sites have been personally used by all members of the Dating Dragons team, and we can vouch for their safety. Read his post here. Its not hard to start an online dating site so don’t get sucked into false promises. The dating sites that we review on Dating Dragons are only ones that we deem are safe, and cheap. Afterall, we don’t want to have to pay huge amounts of money just to meet new people!

Rule number 2: Start a new email address. When you are online dating, I wouldn’t use your normal home or work email address. This can lead to more problems, and its much harder to break free of it if that email address is widely distributed, and if you use it for other things. Additionally, if you use a separate email address, there is no chance that other people might stumble across it at work – which can be difficult to explain at times! Just go to Gmail or Yahoo or Hotmail and signup for a free email address there. Keep it JUST for your online dating sites, and make sure you don’t use the same password that you use on other things like your normal email.

Rule number 3: Watch out for red flags. We’ve already touched on red flags in online dating so you should be mindful of these things. A few important aspects of this are when meeting people who just seem to good to be true. Remember, often people online will not divulge everyting about themselves initially, but when they tell you that they love long walks on the beach, and look like Jessica Alba, you have to start wondering that maybe they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Don’t get caught out. Keep your guard up at all times. If you have a situation that you need some advice on, just let me know. I can give you some help there. Its happened to me!

Rule number 4: Never give out financial information or information that is overly personal. Remember what they ask you when you sign up for credit cards, and bank accounts: Your mothers maiden name, your first pets name, your first school, your favorite food etc. Its all things that can be used in identity theft.

Rule number 5: If someone tries to send you a file that doesn’t look like a picture file or something you know, then get rid of it. There are many other ways that people can show you their profile picture or additional photos. Such as facebook, or on their own website. If someone is trying to send you a file, make sure you know a little about antivirus software, and how to spot faked files. People who are trying to steal your identity can send you a file that actually loads a small trojan or keylogger on your computer and sends them information about your bank logins and personal details. Obviously, sometimes its totally innocent – all I am saying, is be careful.

If you follow these 5 basic rules, you should be safe. Overall, people can be safe doing most things online if they are sensible. Online dating is one of those things where identity theft is starting to really creep in because its so popular and easily accessible.

1. Online Dating – Find an awesome online dating site and stick to it. I often move from dating site to dating site and sometimes I just don’t get it right. Often they are expensive and sometimes you just have a hard time even working out how to use them! I’m not the most tech savvy person, but I love meeting people online. 5. Speaking of Speed Dating – I would love to try more speed dating. A busy life has funnily enough stopped me from going on speed dates. They are always held during times when I already have other committments. If its not writing on here, its taking the dating classes in New York. If its not that, its catching up with my girlfriends, or going on one-on-one dates. I will try some more speed dating events. I always tell my readers and students that speed dating is just dating for busy people – and look at me! Time to put my own words into action!

6. Finally – to try new things in the bedroom – I’m always up for experimenting, and 2010 is going to bring new fun into the bedroom! Time to start reading the Kamasutra again!

A tip on online dating sites: DON’T OUTLAY ANY MONEY until you’ve had the chance to review what that site has to offer. I will NOT put any dating sites below that will cost you money – I truly believe that the best things in life are free. These dating sites are the 3 I found best out of about 50…They are all free to join, and I personally each of them (Along with many bad ones – just ask me on the forum and I can tell you which ones were bad. So onwards – which is 2010’s best dating site?

DATING SITE 1 – This dating site has been in inception for quite some time. It boasts a regularly updated database of users – which will be useful for reaching out to active singles. The upside is that its really easy to sign up (I always suggest that people start a new email address specifically for dating sites so you can manage your logins easily and so your boss doesn’t accidentally stumble across it at work!). I tested this site for 2 months, and got 8 inquiries to my profile. I didn’t pay a cent, and never had to do a thing! I never followed through on those enquiries as the whole thing was for research, but that was quite good, considering I’m not the best looking guy out there! The girls seemed really genuine compared with other sites like rsvp.com where I have heard many stories about people meeting up with middle aged women rather than the smokers on their profile pic! Not a good look! Dating site 1 also has some interesting features, including ways to boost your profile visability.

DATING SITE 2 – Online dating has definitely come a long way, and this is evident by the layout of this dating site. I have never seen such a professional looking online dating site – it increases the appeal of both guys and girl in going to the site. Once again, I tested this for just over 6 weeks, and it was terrific. I actually did follow through on 2 messages that I received, because the profile pictures were very appealing. And lo and behold! They looked exactly the same as their profile pictures! I am still in very close contact with one of them…I used one of my favourite techniques in getting a prospective online date to say yes to a personal meeting – Actually, its not my trick, I got it from Harry Laurent! I went out and bought the cheapest phone I could find. It was $39, with a prepaid sim card within. I packaged it in a box and sent it to her, all fully charged and ready to go (If you are doing this, make sure you take it out of the box and test it etc!!!). I had the phone sent via courier so I would know exactly when it arrived at her doorstep, then I called it 5 minutes after she opened the package and asked her out on a date! She said yes straight away…I definitely recommend checking out dating site 2 as I have had many successes with them as well. This link will take you to their sign up page if you so feel inclined. This site may well be the best 2010 dating site!

DATING SITE 3 – Here is a slightly larger one that has actually proven the test of time. Unlike some of the larger ones, there are great tools to help you narrow down girls in your area and finding single girls who will actually talk to you! There is absolutely no point in having a site full of single girls where none of them are actually out there looking at your profile. There is a neat feature which puts your profile on a rotation which doesn’t cost any money. I used this site for 3 months, because I wanted to create some kind of statistics so you can see that this one actually does have good visibility. Visibility is the key to success, just like getting out there and asking out lots of girls – eventually one will say yes! In this case, there is no fear of failure, as you don’t have to lift a finger! Populating your profile is easy on this one, and I would recommend this to newer online dating users. Most of my friends who use online dating found this the best site to start off with, and then I showed them the ones above, and they are hooked. Dating site 3 has been around the longest of these 3 and definitely has the number of users to prove it.

Over the course of 3 months, my profile which was 100% completed, had the following numbers

Views – 3437

Private messages to me – 211

Profiles resulting in face to face meetings – 35

I thought that was pretty good. What surprised me was that there wasn’t a slow start or uptake as many other sites, but I received my first message about 2 hours after I put my half finished profile on there! Online dating seems to be expanding from the sharp, scary world we all used to hear about in the papers, to the soft, loving experience that we all know now. Whether it be rsvp.com or similar, more and more people appear to be moving from conventional dating to more interesting ways to meet new people. How are people picking up these days? Sure, bars and nightclubs are the usual things you will hear on dating websites, but what about all those other ways.

During the festive season, online dating may be a little more fruitful.

Firstly, many users who are longing for a partner to take to their work christmas functions will be more receptive to advances online. But boys, please remind yourselves to keep things tasteful online. Us girls never want to read about how you want to take our clothes off the first time you write to us!

Secondly, there are many lonely girls (And many just curious ones like me) that will spend more time online during the festive season. Its a fact that many men will experience a slight increase in the number of hits that they receive on their online profiles.

So keep these points in mind when you’re loading your profile on your favorite dating site! Here are a few others to think about

1. Change your profile picture on your online dating site with something to do with christmas. Us girls love these cute photos! Don’t worry about being a little silly…its more fun!

2. Write a few interesting memories that you have about spending christmas in strange places, or doing something fun. Girls respond to memories – it increases trust.

3. Make a new years resolution to update your online dating profile. Don’t let it stagnate!

What is a Dating Red Flag? I’m sure you have already experienced those situations where something someone has said to you, or done in front of you has made you feel a bit weird. Or a bit uneasy. These are instinct cues. Some people think that only certain people have instincts. But everyone has the same instincts, the only difference is that some people know how to read, interpret and act on them. Read more and I will teach you how. Firstly let’s visit online dating. You would have started off relatively skeptical, as everyone does. You are not sure that online dating will be safe. Fair enough. Often these relationship meeting spots are rife with unsavoury characters. It is very wise to have a second email address or similar to deal with these situations. I often have an email address called the burn email. If it gets too hot for whatever reason, I shut it down. A good example is using gmail. You can even register multiple email address within the same login. Here are a few red flags of importance, not only for online dating, but also for regular dating as well.

Take heed, as these will serve you well in the future and may just prevent you from ending up writing in the dating disasters section of the forum board!

- Someone you just met online tries to get your phone number or address within the first week of meeting you

- You receive more than 3 messages a day

- The person you are talking to online or in the real world does not answer your questions directly. Why are they avoiding your questions?

- Puts pressure on you to meet them, or gives you an ultimatum

- Will not contact you by phone after you have developed your online relationship. Avoids any real (home phone number, address) information.

- Describes many cliche situations – ie: loving to sit next to a log fire, drinking hot chocolate and gazing into each others eyes.

- Strong religious or political views that you feel are being pressured on you.

OK, sure, this list could go on, and I’m sure they are things that you already know, so onto the interesting part. What about dating red flags to let you know that the person you are dating (online or offline) isn’t really who you think they are:

- Always arrives late, and in a hurry to leave all the time

- Only calls you at strange hours

- Looks at their phone during dates and then changes plans immediately

- Is always looking around the room, scanning the crowd whilst talking to you

- Seems to know lots of people but won’t introduce you.

Right well, as you can see, there are a lot of red flags to observe. And probably many many more that I haven’t written about. The most important dating red flags, however, and the ones that you may be mostly interested in, are those given by a woman, that indicates that she’s just not that into you!

- Girls love communication. So be worried if she always seems to be ending conversations (ie ending an email thread or facebook chat or sms barrage). In general, men will always want to end conversations far before women.

- She seems to know lots of men, and flirts with them, and never introduces you.

- The plans you try to make are often twarted at the last minute. You seem to be chasing her schedule all the time.

- When you are together, you feel that you need to impress her all the time just to get her to keep talking to you.

- She never offers to pay for anything.

- She never invites you to meet her friends.

I hope this list has given you some insight into the dating red flags that I have come across in my travels. Well, 99% of guys are too scared/ nervous/ excited to approach a beautiful woman, so what do they do? Most of the time they just stare at her across the room, unconsciously drooling while fantasizing about her in their head. This makes her feel like a piece of meat and think all guys are superficial. So when she sees you staring then muster the guts to approach her and all you can do is tell her how beautiful she is you quickly get placed into the category of being just another guy who wants to get into her pants. Compliments do work with beautiful women, but there is a special art to the compliment. That is the topic for another article. 2. Bribery Attractive women make most men feel nervous and inadequate. So what do we do? We try to bribe them into talking to us. Be Confident

From the first moment you meet a girl, make sure you have your confident shoes on. Yes, you’ve read about confidence before, and I have to stress this as a very important feature in your flirting technique. You need to be able to pull it off – or you will look like you are just reading lines from a magazine subscription to Cosmopolitan rather than being the most eligible bachelor. Square your shoulders back and lift your chin. Always have a small smile on your face like you know something that she doesn’t. It makes her feel intrigued about you which translates into dating success.

Staring is not eye contact

Learning the art of eye contact is without a doubt one of the most difficult skills to master. When you are thinking about maintaining eye contact, you will tend to stare. Instead, try to think of something funny while you’re gazing at her, rather than how much you want to rip her clothes off. Once you master the correct amount of eye contact to give a girl, you will find that they will come back to you for more. Eye contact is so powerful that by doing it right, it will be all you will need. Focus on one of her eyes and slowly alternate between the two. By trying to look at both of her eyes at the same time you will appear to be staring straight through her.

Being a gentleman is not being a pushover

Your mother always told you to open doors for girls, and to lay your jacket on the wet ground for her to walk over. Of course, not all tips from your mother can be translated into this modern world. So you will need to read the following list of things that you can do safely without appearing like you are a pushover. The don’ts of dating is an important list (By Resident Dating Expert Alexa Hartstone). Read it later if you get the chance.

- Do open doors. As you approach a door, make sure you are in the position to open the door for her without appearing like you had to run a circle around her to get to it. If it appears smooth and unpressured, you will maintain your “coolness”. Don’t run around cars to open the door for her. Instead, if you are in the back seat such as being in a taxi (Always sit in the back with your date in taxis), open your door and hold it open from outside the taxi and gesture for her to follow through the same door. If she gets to the door first, don’t panic. Take one step forwards and open the door to allow her to go through. The secret is in making it look natural rather than pressured.

- Introduce her to people you meet. When introducing your new date or even someone you are in a relationship with, make sure you take the initiative to introduce her to anyone you meet. Make her feel special when you do this. Always introduce anyone you meet by speaking to her first. By doing this, she feels like you think she is special enough to be the stronger part of the introduction. This is a relatively subtle point, but will reward you in spades as you go through your day at a party. ie: Always say “Tina, this is Robert, he’s one of my friends from work” rather than “Robert, meet Tina”.

- Carry her heavy things – this is not being a pushover. You are stronger, and you should not hide this. Reinforce this by doing the mens work whenever you can. Holding any toys you win for her at an amusement park works well too. If things move on to relationship status – carry the shopping bags etc. You are a gentleman, and other women will see this too.

- Compliment her when she has put effort in – Most men will not realise that a girl has spent 2 hours blowdrying her hair and preening herself. Dating tips like these are widespread in other articles, but be warned. Your compliments need to be well times, and well thought out. Blurting out “That dress is nice” as you get out of a taxi is going to be less powerful than saying it as you walk into a party. If you can, try to find one thing that you can say about something specific. Such as an earing or a bracelet or something. Chances are it has some story that will lead you into some of her personal stories. This is critical in getting her to open up to you.

Moving your Body

Body language should never be underestimated. As much as you analyse her body language for cues, the same is happening for her. As you await the flick of her hair, or for her to cross her legs in your direction, she is waiting for the following things from you.

- Envelop her in your “arc”. When you are sitting at the bar, draw a line from each of your legs – she should sit between the arc that your legs make. This makes her feel safe, and she will likely open up further to you, which is a good thing. By placing your body in a way that envelops hers, she is subconsciously already beginning to believe that she is yours before anything even happpens.

- Never fidget. Wriggling, touching your clothes, tapping your foot, scratching, anything like this will project that you are nervous. Nervous guys don’t get plenty of dates. One of my students once told me that he got a friend to videotape him on a date once, which gave him the insight he needed into his body language. After reviewing the video, he saw many body language cues that he never knew existed. Although this takes some setup to accomplish, with today’s technological advances, this is achievable.

- Touch her! – Although this doesn’t mean you squeeze her nipple when you first meet her, try this. When shaking hands with her for the first time, touch her elbow. Watch any US president on TV meeting a foreign dignitry. They stand confident, and whilst they are shaking hands, they gently place a hand on the persons elbow. This signifys strength, and puts you in a powerful position. This is also a warm way to greet people. Girls feel safe with ment who are powerful. A common question is the kiss on the cheek. Although this is widespread, when you first meet someone, you should never go in for the kiss on the cheek. Of course, if she instigates this, then go for it, but never start it yourself. Some girls find this strange, and more often than not, it starts off your first date with awkwardness.

Nature offers us so many places to enjoy a lot of the time for no charge whatsoever. Take her to the beach for some fun in the sun, on a trek through a local reserve or on a picnic by a stream or waterfall. Pair this with a simple picnic hamper and you will have won her over.

2. Play chef for the night
The internet is full of free recipes from every corner of the globe. Find out what type of cuisine gets her mouth watering and plan to cook her something that will excite. You can either do it by yourself or together. Some women love shopping for food, assisting with t he preparation and cooking. You can share the total experience together and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

3. Get some culture

4. Be do-gooders
There are countless charities around that would love for you to offer your time. Volunteer at the local animal shelter or nursing home for a warm fuzzy feeling that you can share together.

5. Reinvent the movies
Get a friend over and move your TV out of your lounge room and into a new environment. Grab a DVD and you can be sharing popcorn and a fantastic night with your date enjoying a movie under the stars in your garden.

6. Child’s play
Many women love kids. Offering to babysit a neice, nephew or friend’s kid can be a fun way to spend your day. But make sure your date is someone who like kids otherwise the idea is doomed! It also gives you an excuse to play in the sandpit and show off how high you can ride the local swing.

7. Satisfy her sweet tooth
Girls love chocolate. You can make it an adventure to discover some quaint dessert or candy stores. A cupcake or cookies whilst sitting in your local park is a cheap and easy way to impress.

8. Get educated
Many museums and art galleries have free entry. Try and pick one that suits her interest. Some girls detest paintings while abstract sculptures might get them excited.

9. Board games
Most of us were brought up with board games in the pre internet/ Nintendo/ Playstation era. Playing Scrabble, checkers and Monopoly often brings back fun memories of summer break and school holidays. Warning: be careful not to scare her if you have an ultracompetitive personality.

10. Take a tour of a local brewery or winery
Many wineries are set in beautiful green vineyards and offer free wine tastings. This is the picturesque backdrop to a perfect afternoon.

These are just some ideas that will keep you entertained with little financial outlay. But there is more than the venue – there are other things you should do on a first date.  It just goes to show that when it comes to fun dating ideas, a little planning and imagination can go a long way.

The typical scenario is: you are out with your mates at a a bar and across the room you see a beautiful woman you like.  She glances at you and knows you are interested.  You fantasize about how much you would like to date and see how far you could go.  But then when it comes to putting yourself on the line, you chicken out and tell yourself that you have no chance.  Meanwhile some other loser has sneaks in and steals your woman because you are too scared of being rejected.

There are plenty of old sayings which continue to hold true:
“You will miss 100% of the shots you fail to make”
“FEAR is just an abbreviation for False Expectations Appearing Real”

“Every time we choose safety, we reinforce fear”

Here are a few tips to help you get over your fear of rejection and help you approach, attract and date more hot girls.

1.  Observe how infrequently rejection actually occurs.

Head out to a busy bar or club one night, either by yourself or with your friends.  Look around and find a handful of hot women because these are the ones that will be approached by the guys.

Pay attention to the types of approaches that these women get by guys.  You will usually observe one of three things; a) a guy will approach her and she will accept his offer to buy her a drink; b) after a brief conversation she will pleasantly decline a guy she doesn’t like; c) some idiot will make a sexist remark and or grab her ass and she will expectantly be irritated.  The point is that unless you are a prick, your approach is going to be either positive or neutral- not the cataclysmic, world-ending terror that passes through your mind.

2.  Take baby steps.

Approaching beautiful women in a bar and starting a conversation is a challenging scenario if you have not had any practice.  You need to slowly build up your confidence in approaching women so that when you are in the heat of battle with her friends dragging her to the dance floor and your friends gesturing in the background, you are able to remain calm and cool with your conversation.

Start by getting used to opening up a conversation with attractive women.  One of the simplest ways of doing this is by approaching the sales staff at the retail counter.  If you go to any men’s fragrance or clothing counter you are generally assured you will have a reasonably attractive girl manning the desk.  Get used to obtaining eye contact, approaching them and then making an opening statement or greeting.  Its easy to simply start by asking her questions that are directly related to the goods she is selling.  For example what the current popular fragrances are.  Alternatively pretend that you are looking to get a friend’s gift and simply ask what she would recommend- just be careful that if you use this method that you don’t inadvertently get talked into buying yourself a whole wardrobe of items as this will make your training a very expensive experience!

Once you have gotten comfortable with ‘non-emotional’ conversation, you can move to practicing your skills with jokes and compliments.  These are ‘emotional’ conversation and we will talk about this more specifically in another article.

3.  Plan to have something to say.

Failing to plan is planning to fail.  We have all heard that before.  If you are going to approach a woman, make sure you have something to say.  There is nothing worse than getting your courage together, walking up to the hot girl and then saying “Hello, um…….”  You don’t need to have the funniest or wittiest line to open up the conversation.  Simple things such as the weather, asking about how her day has been are easy no-brainer conversation starters.  They are just simple ice breakers.  Make sure you have at least 3 conversation starters in mind for any given situation.
